NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance today unveiled new technology that is detecting troublemakers and graffiti vandals risking their lives on train tracks, within seconds of culprits trespassing on the railway corridor.

 

The new Sydney Trains technology uses motion-activated cameras to catch anyone who is on train tracks illegally or breaking into fenced-off areas of the rail network.

Parramatta Council calls for extra ferry services

Parramatta City Council says extended operating hours and express services are needed to reinvigorate ferry transport to and from Parramatta.

 

Council will write to Minister for Transport Andrew Constance requesting an increase in operating hours and evening service frequency in both directions between Parramatta and Circular Quay Ferry Terminals.

 

Services from Parramatta to Circular Quay currently finish at 6.55pm on weekdays and 7.38pm on weekends, while services from Circular Quay to Parramatta stop at 6.25pm on weekdays and 6.07pm on weekends.

Teachers are taking advantage of a major NSW Government investment enabling more than 1,000 public primary school teachers to mentor and coach other teachers, improving the results of students.

 

Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli and Member for East Hills Glenn Brookes today met with students and staff at Panania Public School who are benefiting from the $224 million Quality Teaching, Successful Students package.

The Commonwealth, New South Wales and Victorian governments today signed the first agreements for the full rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

 

Today’s historic signings confirm the joint commitment of the Commonwealth, New South Wales and Victorian Governments to people with disability, their families and carers.

 

The agreements give certainty to around 140,000 people with disability in New South Wales and around 105,000 people with disability in Victoria. They also give certainty to their families and carers.

NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance today announced tunnelling on the $8.3 billion Sydney Metro Northwest has passed the 70 per cent mark with 22km of tunnelling now complete.

Health Minister Jillian Skinner today launched Multicultural Health Week in NSW by encouraging communities from culturally and linguistically diverse communities to participate in their own health care journey.

NSW Opposition Leader Luke Foley today proposed that NSW accept at least 5000 refugees as an emergency response to the unfolding crisis in Syria.

 

Mr Foley backed Federal Labor’s call for an additional 10,000 humanitarian places for refugees displaced by conflict in the Middle East as a one-off on top of Australia’s current intake of 13,750.

 

On account of our population size, NSW could accommodate at least half of a one-off intake of 10,000 displaced persons.

Taxpayers have foot the bill for more than $48,000 worth of taxis in the last year to ferry passengers around because of late, cancelled or overcrowded trains.

 

According to Freedom of Information documents obtained by the NSW Opposition, the Baird Government has spent $188,148.80 on taxi fares for stranded passengers since coming to office.
