Paul Garrard is the new Parramatta City Council Lord Mayor

PARRAMATTA’S longest serving councillor Paul Garrard has regained the mayoral chains after being elected as Lord Mayor at Tuesday night’s election.

 

With the support of Liberal councillors, the independent councillor defeated Labor councillor Pierre Esber via a show of hands vote.

It will be his sixth of term as Lord Mayor, and will be his first term since 2009-10.

Cr Garrard was elected to Parramatta City Council in September 1974 and has served five terms as Lord Mayor.

Liberal councillor Bakous Makari is the new deputy mayor for Parramatta after defeating Labor councillor for the position

Scott Lloyd and Steven Issa were praised for their efforts during their term as Lord Mayor and deputy mayor respectively.
