Minister for Ageing John Ajaka today announced a new telecommunications offer that will give NSW Seniors Card holders another incentive to get tech savvy.

Mr Ajaka said that the NSW Government is delivering on its election commitment to expand the Seniors Card program and help NSW seniors access the digital world.

“With almost half of all older Australians not accessing the internet, the NSW Government has partnered with Telstra to offer the Telstra Seniors Starter Bundle so our seniors can stay connected and experience the benefits of today’s new technology,” Mr Ajaka said.

As part of the NSW Government’s election commitment to expand the Tech Savvy Seniors program, training course locations will increase from 71 to 104 locations, and 31 libraries will offer courses in eight languages other than English.

The expansion of the program will deliver training to more than 15,000 seniors a year and provide an extra 3,500 places each year for the next four years.

The Telstra Seniors Starter Bundle is a new plan for seniors who are not connected to the internet to start their online journey through discounted internet costs.

The new Telstra Seniors Starter Bundle builds on Telstra’s existing partnership with the NSW Government through the Tech Savvy Seniors program, which provides access to free and low cost technology training to NSW Seniors across the state.

Mr Andrew Coull, Group Managing Director, Telstra Consumer, said the Tech Savvy Seniors program provides older Australians with the skills and confidence to connect to the digital world.

“Telstra is committed to helping all Australians enjoy the benefits of being connected. It goes to the heart of what Telstra stands for,” Mr Coull said.

The Telstra Seniors Starter Bundle is available to all NSW Seniors Card holders who have previously not been connected to the internet and can be ordered by visiting a Telstra store or phoning 13 77 88.
