A golf tournament, photo exhibition, dance workshops and healthy eating talks are among a number of events and workshops that form part of Parramatta City Council’s 2016 Seniors Festival program.
The Festival, which runs from 1-10 April, celebrates the significant contribution of seniors aged 55 and over, and provides valuable opportunities for them to engage with their local community, learn new skills and express themselves.
“This year’s theme Grow Young celebrates the great energy, vitality and passion for life of our seniors. Council will be hosting a wonderful range of activities designed to keep seniors feeling young in mind, body and spirit,” Lord Mayor of Parramatta Cr Paul Garrard said.
A highlight event of the festival is Seniors Golf Day where around 120 guests will be treated to lunch and a round of golf on Thursday 7 April at Woodville Golf Course in Guildford.
“We’re celebrating 21 years of hosting the tournament, which has often been a big drawcard for many golf enthusiasts or even first-time golfers wanting to give it a go.”
“This year Council is paying special tribute to South Granville resident Cyril Harvey, who was an integral part of the running of the tournament and recently sadly passed away. We will be naming the Cyril Harvey Memorial Trophy in his honour.”
