AIBC NSW welcomes Mr Manish Gupta, Consul General of India, Sydney

The Australia India Business Council Ltd NSW Chapter hosted a welcome reception for the new Consul General of India, Sydney, Mr Manish Gupta and Mrs Nimeesha Gupta, on Monday, 2 September 2019.

It was a festive spirit at the Deloitte offices in George Street, Sydney at this first event held by the newly elected AIBC NSW management committee.

Harsh Shah, Partner Deloitte, welcomed guests and acknowledged the long-standing partnership between his organisation and AIBC and was pleased to be event partner as well. He said it was significant that the Global CEO of Deloitte, Puneet Ranjan was originally from Haryana, India. Under his leadership Deloitte had embarked on the ‘WorldClass Program’ to support 50 million people worldwide, including 10 million Indians, by providing up-skilling training over the next decade.

Sameer Arora, AIBC NSW President stated it was going to be an action packed year for the new committee, all of whom were excited by the many new opportunities to contribute to NSW India Trade & Investment.

“We have developed plans and programs in alignment with strategies identified by the AIBC National Board to promote mutual trade opportunities. I am pleased to lead a committed and motivated team of professionals and high achievers, all focused on delivering outcomes in the short and long terms,” he added.

Sanushka Seomangal, AIBC National Vice Chair, said the AIBC had a new and energised chapter in NSW. She said that it was heartening to see more focus on corporates and businesses which would take AIBC to the next level. AIBC would be working closely with the Consulates to support mutual initiatives, she added.

The Consul General, Mr. Manish Gupta acknowledged the warm welcome for him and his wife and said that although this was a first formal event, he and his office had already begun working closely with AIBC NSW.

He believed government and business needed to work together with a greater focus on trade and investment. He said there was more potential than ever before, as India continued to be a growth story and its relationship with Australia was also excellent.

“Now that the elections are over in both our countries, the next four years will provide more opportunities in start-ups and skills training. We are also supported in Australia by an established Indian community and Indian international students. The education, tourism, mining and mining technology are all growing, and we need to focus more. India also needs more training and up-skilling programs,” he said.

He added that the Consulate would work closely with Australian and Indian businesses and was open to any constructive feedback or suggestions.

Amit Goswami, AIBC NSW Vice President delivered the official Vote of Thanks and acknowledged the support of AIBC stakeholders and members.

Sangeeta Venkatesan, AIBC NSW Treasurer was Master of Ceremonies (MC) for this very successful event.
