As COVID-19 cases continue to resurface across the country, health authorities are closely monitoring the situation. According to the latest official data, as of June 1, active coronavirus cases in India have climbed to 3,758. The virus has now been reported in 27 states, with Kerala alone accounting for more than 1,400 active cases.
In the past 24 hours, the country recorded 363 new infections, while 383 patients were declared recovered. Unfortunately, two more deaths have been reported, taking the recent fatality count slightly higher.
Despite the spike, health experts have urged the public not to panic. They say the current variant appears to be of moderate transmissibility and less severe in nature compared to earlier strains.
“There's no immediate cause for alarm, but people must remain vigilant, follow hygiene protocols, and consult doctors if symptoms arise,” said a senior epidemiologist from AIIMS.
The Ministry of Health has not yet announced any travel or social restrictions, but authorities are recommending mask usage in crowded indoor spaces and vaccination updates for those eligible.
Public health departments across affected states, particularly in Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi, have stepped up testing and surveillance efforts to contain the spread.
