Pakistan’s Attempt to Derail Indian Delegation’s Malaysia Visit Fails, Says Source

In a significant diplomatic development, Pakistan's alleged attempt to obstruct the visit of an Indian parliamentary delegation to Malaysia was reportedly rebuffed by Kuala Lumpur, according to sources quoted by NDTV. Despite Islamabad's interventionist approach, the Indian delegation successfully carried out all its engagements in Malaysia without disruption.

Sources confirmed that the Pakistani Embassy in Malaysia had formally urged local authorities to cancel the scheduled programs of the visiting Indian delegation, reportedly raising concerns linked to the Kashmir issue. However, the Malaysian government is said to have rejected these requests outright, continuing with its support for the Indian delegation’s itinerary.

“The Malaysian authorities showed no inclination to entertain Pakistan’s interference. All meetings and programs went ahead as planned,” a top source familiar with the matter said, adding that this episode is being viewed as a “major diplomatic embarrassment” for Islamabad.

The Indian delegation, led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha, included BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradan Barua and Hemang Joshi, TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, CPM’s John Brittas, Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, and former Indian diplomat Mohan Kumar.

As per reports, Pakistan attempted to use Islamic solidarity narratives to influence Malaysia against hosting the Indian team. However, its effort failed to gain traction in the Southeast Asian nation, known for balancing relations with both South Asian countries.

The delegation’s visit to Malaysia was part of a broader multi-nation mission covering Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore. It was one of seven special delegations dispatched to expose Pakistan’s alleged role in terror attacks on Indian soil, including the recent Pahalgam terror incident which claimed 27 innocent lives.

The delegations are also advocating for India’s official stance following Operation Sindoor, a counter-terror strike carried out by India in response to the Pahalgam attack.

Diplomatic experts say the smooth execution of the visit, despite Pakistan’s objections, reflects India’s growing global support and Pakistan’s diminishing credibility on the world stage, especially concerning its narratives around Kashmir.
