Former NSW MP Rory Amon Arrested for Allegedly Breaching Bail in Child Sex Offence Case

SYDNEY — Former Liberal MP Rory Amon, who stepped down from Parliament after being charged with historic child sex offences, has been arrested again—this time for allegedly breaching his bail conditions.

NSW Police confirmed that Amon, 35, was taken into custody at Day Street Police Station around 10pm on Wednesday night. He was refused bail and is set to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court today.

Amon is facing serious charges involving alleged offences against a 13-year-old boy in Sydney’s northern suburbs. He has pleaded not guilty and is committed to stand trial on multiple charges, including:

  • Five counts of having sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10 and 14

  • Two counts of indecent assault of a person under 16

  • Two counts of attempted sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10 and 14

  • One count of committing an act of indecency with a person under 16

The allegations are believed to relate to incidents that occurred several years ago. Amon’s resignation from Parliament came shortly after the charges were laid earlier this year.

In a surprising public sighting, Amon was seen in March pouring beers at Paddy’s Markets in Sydney, drawing attention amid the legal proceedings.

He has maintained his innocence and indicated he will fight the charges in court.

The former politician’s arrest for allegedly breaching bail conditions is likely to raise further questions about his conduct and the judicial process ahead of his trial.

The matter is now before the court.
