फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडियन एसोसिएशन्स ऑफ एनएसडब्ल्यू (FIAN) ने ग्लेनवुड शॉपिंग प्रीसिंक्ट में हाल के दिनों में बढ़ी चोरी और दुकानों में सेंधमारी की घटनाओं पर गहरी चिंता व्यक्त की है।
पिछले 7 से 10 दिनों के दौरान कई स्थानीय व्यवसाय इन आपराधिक घटनाओं का शिकार हुए हैं। एक घटना में एटीएम मशीन को नुकसान पहुँचाकर लूटने का प्रयास किया गया। स्थानीय व्यापारियों का कहना है कि अपराधियों को न तो व्यवसाय मालिकों का डर है और न ही कानून-व्यवस्था का।
प्रभावित व्यापारियों के अनुरोध पर FIAN प्रतिनिधियों ने इस विषय पर ब्लैकटाउन सिटी काउंसिल के पार्षद मोहित कुमार, प्रदीप पाठी, मोनिंदर सिंह और सुसाई बेंजामिन से बैठक की। रिवरस्टोन पुलिस एरिया कमांड के अधिकारी भी एटीएम घटना की जांच के लिए उपस्थित हुए और सामुदायिक सुरक्षा से जुड़े मुद्दों पर चर्चा की।
संस्था ने फुटपाथ पर ई-स्कूटर के बढ़ते उपयोग को भी एक गंभीर समस्या बताया है। विशेष रूप से बुजुर्ग और कमजोर नागरिकों की सुरक्षा को लेकर चिंता जताई गई है, क्योंकि फुटपाथों पर तेज गति से चलने वाले ई-स्कूटर दुर्घटनाओं और गंभीर चोटों का कारण बन सकते हैं।
FIAN ने ब्लैकटाउन सिटी काउंसिल, स्थानीय सांसद श्री मार्क टेलर, रिवरस्टोन पुलिस, स्थानीय व्यापारियों और ग्लेनवुड बिज़नेस सेंटर प्रबंधन से मिलकर इस समस्या का समाधान निकालने की अपील की है।
संस्था ने निम्नलिखित सुझाव प्रस्तुत किए हैं:
पूरे व्यावसायिक क्षेत्र में सीसीटीवी कैमरों की स्थिति और कवरेज की समीक्षा की जाए, ताकि दिन और रात दोनों समय प्रभावी निगरानी सुनिश्चित हो सके।
स्थानीय व्यवसाय अपने प्रतिष्ठानों के अंदर और बाहर सीसीटीवी कैमरे स्थापित करें।
दुकानों के प्रवेश द्वार पर “प्रिमाइसेस में नकद नहीं रखा जाता” जैसे बोर्ड लगाए जाएँ, ताकि अपराधियों को हतोत्साहित किया जा सके।
ई-स्कूटर के अनियंत्रित उपयोग पर प्रभावी नियंत्रण लगाया जाए, ताकि पैदल चलने वालों की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित हो सके।
क्षेत्र में पुलिस गश्त बढ़ाई जाए, जिससे अपराधों पर रोक लगे।
FIAN के अध्यक्ष डॉ. यादु सिंह ने बैठक में शामिल पार्षदों और पुलिस अधिकारियों का धन्यवाद किया और आशा व्यक्त की कि समन्वित प्रयासों से ग्लेनवुड क्षेत्र में सुरक्षा और विश्वास बहाल किया जा सकेगा।
Community Raises Alarm Over Rising Break-Ins in Glenwood Shopping Precinct
Glenwood, NSW – 16 February 2026
The Federation of Indian Associations of NSW (FIAN) has expressed serious concern over a recent spike in burglaries and break-ins targeting businesses in the Glenwood shopping precinct.
According to community representatives, several local businesses have been affected over the past 7–10 days. In one incident, an ATM was reportedly damaged in an attempted robbery. Business owners have voiced growing frustration and concern, stating that the offenders appear undeterred by the presence of law enforcement or security measures.
Following representations from affected businesses, FIAN representatives met with Blacktown City Councillors Mohit Kumar, Pradeep Pathi, Moninder Singh and Susai Benjamin to discuss the matter. Officers from Riverstone Police Area Command also attended to investigate the ATM incident and to engage in discussions regarding broader community safety concerns.
In addition to the break-ins, the Federation highlighted increasing safety risks posed by e-scooters being ridden on footpaths. Community members, particularly elderly residents, have reported concerns about potential accidents and serious injuries due to scooters operating in pedestrian areas.
FIAN has called on Blacktown City Council, local Member of Parliament Mark Taylor, Riverstone Police, local businesses, and Glenwood business centre management to work collaboratively to address the issues.
The Federation has put forward several recommendations:
A review of CCTV camera placement and coverage throughout the business precinct to ensure effective day-and-night surveillance.
Installation of additional CCTV systems by individual businesses, including cameras covering exterior areas.
Display of “No Cash Kept on the Premises” signage to discourage targeted theft.
Increased police patrols to deter criminal activity.
Stronger regulation and enforcement regarding e-scooter use on footpaths to enhance pedestrian safety.
Dr Yadu Singh, President of FIAN, thanked councillors and police officers for their engagement and constructive discussions, expressing hope that coordinated action will restore confidence and safety in the Glenwood business community.
