Parramatta's $560 Million Investment Paves the Way for Global City Vision

Parramatta, NSW – The City of Parramatta has unveiled a bold plan to invest more than $560 million in projects and services over the next 12 months, laying a strong foundation for the area’s transformation into a leading global city.

At the May Council Meeting, the City endorsed its draft Community Strategic Plan (CSP), Delivery Program and Operational Plan (DPOP), and 2025/26 budget for public exhibition. These documents outline the City’s long-term vision over the next 25 years and its key priorities and funding commitments for the next four years.

The upcoming financial year will see a significant $199.8 million allocated to capital works, including major projects such as the next stage of the Civic Link pedestrian boulevard (Block 3), revitalisation of the Epping and Granville Town Centres, and enhancements to local parks, reserves, and cycleway connections leading to the CBD.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter highlighted that the budget reflects the community’s aspirations and responds to the City's rapid growth.

“We’ve listened to our community at workshops, forums, and pop-up events to shape these plans and identify key priorities,” Cr Zaiter said. “Our residents value vibrant community hubs, better cycling infrastructure, and the rejuvenation of town centres like Epping and Granville.”

The Mayor also noted that 42 per cent of the capital works funding will come from external sources, such as government grants and developer contributions, helping Council to stretch ratepayer dollars further.

Recognising the pressures of the rising cost of living, Council is continuing its rate relief for pensioners, offering an additional $100 rebate on top of the mandatory $250 rebate provided by all NSW councils.

“We remain focused on meeting community needs and will keep pursuing funding to deliver City-shaping infrastructure,” Cr Zaiter said. “This budget ensures Parramatta remains not just a place to live or work, but also a smart investment for the future.”

The draft plans are now open for public feedback, giving residents an opportunity to help shape the direction of one of Australia's fastest-growing and most dynamic cities.
