The NSW Government has granted $10 million through the Medical Devices Fund (MDF) to a record seven companies to bring innovative medical technologies to market.

The NSW Government’s $20 billion plan to transform the State is a step closer with the poles and wires lease reaching a major milestone, Treasurer Gladys Berejiklian has announced.
“Today, we will receive binding bids for TransGrid, which marks the final stage of the electricity transaction, and tomorrow we are launching expressions of interest for the partial lease of Ausgrid,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“This marks a major milestone in our Rebuilding NSW plan and shows yet again that the Liberals & Nationals Government delivers on its promises.”
Motorists in NSW are being made to sit in traffic for longer on roads that are in desperate need of maintenance and repairs.
The latest transport report published by the NSW Auditor General highlighted the poor state of NSW roads with an enormous backlog of maintenance projects and average travel speeds continuing to decline.
The backlog in maintenance works to be undertaken by the Roads and Maritime Services has almost doubled from $2.7 billion in 2012-13 to $5.3 billion in 2014-15.

The NSW Government is continuing to support BlueScope workers find a job for the future by waiving qualification fees, Minister for Skills John Barilaro and Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward announced today.
Mr Barilaro said the NSW Government is introducing this new training policy to continue supporting workers who want to transition to a new career.
“Learning new skills will allow workers to participate in growing industries in the region, such as advanced manufacturing as well as Information and Communications Technology,” Mr Barilaro said.

For the first time senior and pensioner customers can get a Gold Opal card on the spot at Opal kiosks located at 40 major train stations, bus interchanges, light rail stops and ferry wharves up until January 2016.
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said that with the majority of paper tickets for public transport being phased out on 1 January 2016, it is time for customers to make the switch to Opal.

Complaints to the Health Care Complaints Commission have reached an all-time high – showing the State and Federal government health cuts have affected the health and hospital system in NSW and put the whole system under enormous pressure.
Shadow Health Minister Walt Secord said that almost half of people making complaints to the Health Care Complaints Commission about the health system had discontinued their complaints. Almost half (46.7 per cent) of people are still discontinuing complaints to the Health Care Complaints Commission.

More than 9,600 vulnerable households in NSW were assisted into homes in social housing last financial year, Minister for Social Housing Brad Hazzard said today.
A further 27,000* households were assisted to rent in the private rental market.
“The Liberals & Nationals Government is reforming social housing by boosting supply and developing more opportunities for tenants to become independent and break the cycle of disadvantage,” Mr Hazzard said.
“Social housing is our safety net for the vulnerable and we were able to take in another 9,600 households last year.

Mr Ajaka said that the NSW Government is delivering on its election commitment to expand the Seniors Card program and help NSW seniors access the digital world.
“With almost half of all older Australians not accessing the internet, the NSW Government has partnered with Telstra to offer the Telstra Seniors Starter Bundle so our seniors can stay connected and experience the benefits of today’s new technology,” Mr Ajaka said.

An independent evaluation of the Work for the Dole pilot which ran from 1 July 2014 has found the programme was effective in helping participants gain confidence and self-esteem and learn skills such as team work, communication and appropriate workplace behaviour.
Minister for Employment, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash said the Evaluation of Work for the Dole 2014-15 showed how the programme is helping more Australians get work-ready.
“This Government is determined to help every Australian who is able to find work,” Minister Cash said.
