NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance today announced the second massive crane which will build the skytrain on the $8.3 billion Sydney Metro Northwest has been commissioned and is now fully operational.

 

“The two giant horizontal cranes have already completed more than 550m of the 4km skytrain between Bella Vista and Rouse Hill,” Mr Constance said.

The transformation of the Parramatta CBD is entering a new phase with the escalation of works on the $2 billion Parramatta Square project.

 

Civic Place and Leigh Place will be closed to traffic and pedestrians in preparation for the demolition of the former Council offices, library, shops and Connection Arcade – the sites for Aspire Tower (Stage 2), Stages 5 and 6 and a new world-class public domain.

HERITAGE GRANTS WILL HELP BRING AUSTRALIAN STORIES BACK TO LIFE

Heritage Minister Mark Speakman today announced this year’s Royal Australian Historical Society’s (RAHS) Historical Research and Local Archive Heritage Grant recipients at the society’s annual conference.

 

The grants are funded through the Office of Environment and Heritage’s Community, Youth and Senior Heritage grants program.

 

Mr Speakman said the eight recipients received more than $23,000 to support a range of projects that chronicle local Australian stories.

The NSW Government will make a new regulation to enable injured workers in NSW, who made a claim for lump sum compensation before 19 June 2012, to make one further claim if their condition significantly deteriorates.

 

Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation Victor Dominello said the new regulation responded to a recent court decision, Cram Fluid Power v Green [2015] NSWCA 250.

$7 MILLION FUNDING FOR VITAL RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE

Lifeguards return to duty at Lake Parramatta

Regular weekend and school holiday lifeguard patrols will return to Parramatta’s newest swimming spot, the popular Lake Parramatta, on Saturday 31 October.

 

Swimming was re-introduced to the Lake in January this year for the first time in more than 70 years with thousands of people taking to the water during the summer months. 

 

Lifeguards from the Australian Lifeguard Service will be on duty every weekend, on public holidays and during school holidays from 9am to 6pm, until 13 March, 2016.

The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is investing a record $113 million in additional funding to support NSW public school students who need it most, Education Minister Adrian Piccoli announced today.

Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation Victor Dominello will today introduce a ‘spring clean’ bill to repeal 30 outdated and obsolete laws from the statute books, as part of the NSW Government’s ongoing commitment to reduce red tape and unnecessary regulation.
