NSW OPEN GOLF SECURED FOR WESTERN SYDNEY

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres has announced the NSW Open Golf will call Western Sydney home for the next four years.

 

This unique tournament will be played at the Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club in Colebee and will be a great precursor to the Australian Open of Golf in Sydney.

 

“The NSW Open Golf will provide a great boost to the Western Sydney economy, with the 2015 event alone expected to contribute nearly $1.4 million in visitor expenditure,” Mr Ayres said.

India team manager fined for inappropriate comments

India team manager Vinod Phadke has been fined 40 per cent of his match fee after he was found guilty of making inappropriate comments about umpire Vineet Kulkarni ahead of the Indore One-Day International.

 

Mr Phadke was found to have breached Article 2.1.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “Public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an International Match or any Player, Player Support Personnel, Match official or team participating in any International Match”.

ADVENTURE RACING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN NSW

The world’s toughest endurance athletes will traverse the wilderness of the Shoalhaven as part of the 2016 Adventure Racing World Championships secured by the NSW Government.

 

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said the event is the culmination of an eight stage World Series and comprises a 700km race that includes trekking, mountain biking and kayaking. It will be held in November 2016 with teams of four taking 5-10 days to complete the course.

Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres is encouraging people to participate in this year’s Festival of Cycling and Wellbeing at Sydney Olympic Park from October 10 to November 1.

Richie Richardson appointed to Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced that former West Indies captain Richie Richardson has been appointed to the Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees. He will replace Sri Lanka’s Roshan Mahanama, who stepped down last week.

 

Mr Richardson will take over the match referee’s role after he has finished his current assignment as the West Indies cricket team manager, which will end with the Sydney Test against Australia starting on 3 January 2016.

 

Following his appointment, Mr Richardson said: “I am excited and honoured to have been selected for one of the most important jobs in cricket.
