$1 Million Boost for Hoxton Park Reserve Upgrade Under Labor Government

Hinchinbrook, NSW – The Albanese Labor Government, if re-elected, has pledged a significant $1.026 million to revitalize Hoxton Park Reserve, enhancing the facility's lighting and playing surface. This funding promise aims to address longstanding issues that have impacted the Liverpool Olympic Football Club, which uses the reserve for evening training and activities.

Recent years have seen multiple instances of blackouts and electrical fires at the reserve, attributed to outdated electrical infrastructure. Moreover, the poor condition of the playing surface, characterized by potholes and inadequate grading and drainage, led to the cancellation of 30% of the club's 2022 playing season due to adverse weather conditions.

Anne Stanley, the Federal Member for Werriwa, expressed her dedication to improving the club's facilities, stating, "Liverpool Olympic Football Club is a wonderful family club which promotes inclusivity across all genders and abilities. I am thrilled to have worked closely with the club's executive to bring their dream of better facilities closer to reality."

She highlighted the current electrical issues, noting, "At the moment, they can’t run the air conditioning or boil the kettle while the on-field lighting is on without risking an electrical fault." Stanley assured that the proposed upgrades would resolve these issues and substantially enhance the playing and training experience for club members of all ages.

This election commitment aligns with the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles, ensuring that the funding and upgrades are implemented effectively and benefit the broad community involved with Hoxton Park Reserve.
