In a major breakthrough, US immigration authorities have apprehended Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, a wanted Khalistani terrorist allegedly responsible for orchestrating 14 terror attacks in Punjab over the past six months. The arrest was confirmed by top Indian security agencies, marking a significant blow to cross-border terrorism networks.

Happy Passia had been operating from US soil and was closely working in tandem with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, fugitive terrorist Rinda, and the banned Khalistani outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). He had claimed responsibility for multiple grenade and IED attacks targeting police facilities and political figures, often using social media platforms to boast about the incidents.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken him into custody. Indian authorities are likely to press for his extradition in view of his direct involvement in terror-related cases.

  6. Dec 17, 2024 – Powerful blast near Islamabad Police Station, Amritsar; Babbar Khalsa-linked gangster Jivan Fauji claimed responsibility.

  7. Dec 18, 2024 – Grenade attack on Bakshiwala Police Checkpost, Gurdaspur.

  8. Dec 20, 2024 – Second grenade attack in Kalanaur, Gurdaspur.

National Security Response

Indian intelligence agencies had placed a bounty of ₹5 lakh on Happy Passia. His repeated and brazen attacks on security infrastructure had raised alarms at the highest levels, prompting deeper cooperation between Indian and international law enforcement agencies.

Officials noted that the arrest is not just a win against one individual but represents a critical step in dismantling a larger ISI-supported Khalistani terror network that continues to threaten national security.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is expected to coordinate with US counterparts for further interrogation and extradition proceedings. The Centre has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and affirmed continued efforts to combat secessionist and extremist threats both domestically and internationally.
